Angry Birds Journey

One of the projects I have worked on at Rovio is Angry Birds Journey – a modern take on the iconic and classic slingshot gameplay. 

Level design work was done in Unity with a custom level editor.

I came up with and drove the initiative for a completely new type of level for the game, dubbed Golden Egg levels.
Inspired by the physics engine and the delightful destruction that is characteristic of Angry Birds, the design ethos behind Golden Egg levels was to offer players pure fun relief content paced between tougher challenges that would focus purely on positive emotion and break the monotony of typical level gameplay while still following the basic rules and principles of Angry Birds Journey level design.

The levels were deemed so captivating that they were heavily used as such to market the game. To this day, on the App Store, the app preview video (main trailer) features gameplay comprised fully from Golden Egg levels made by me.
